We were approached by a general contractor to equip an apartment complex with brand new balcony railing and hand railing, to bring it up to code.
This was built with 1-1/2″ square tubing around the perimeter and 3/4″ picket rail. The handrails were made with 1-1/2″ mild steel round tubing.
To install the handrails, we core-drilled the existing concrete for each foot to be mounted and set in the concrete. This is a bulletproof way of affixing the railing to the superstructure.
The whole project was finished with an electrostatic paint which has a proven durability of 25+ years. Besides this excellent resilience, it is also much less expensive than powder-coating.
The entire project totaled over 550′ of railing and handrail.
